OnStar home security system - can they listen in without you knowing?

On a GE system home security system panel, which uses OnStar, can the security system or anyone else “listen in” to your home without you knowing it?
I know , I sound paranoid, but I have no experience with OnStar or anything like it and the salesman said that when the alarm is tripped the operator will be able to hear basically anyone in my house.
I’m just wondering if it’s possible for anyone at the security company (which I’m afraid isn’t the most reputable) or some type of “hacker” could listen in to my home without the alarm indicating this or without there being any other indication.

can a motion sensored security light be adjusted to about 10ft, because the ones that i’ve seen say that it can be adjusted to 100 ft but what’s the least ? it’s because cars pass behind my drive way all the time and i don’t want it turning on every 2 minutes.

I need some advice about home security systems?
I want to buy one that turns on the lights and makes a loud reaction and calls the police when an intruder breaks in.
My partner found one that charges you $19.00 a month to call the police.
I know that there has to be one that calls them for free.
If you know of any please provide links.

Why are there often commercials for home security systems on the Fox News channel?

Is it because of their target audience? The gated-community mentality people who are so fearful of minorities and crime that they need to be comforted by a strong clean-cut white male on the other end of the phone who will try to contact you immediately if someone breaks into your home?
Too bad these commercials have been running for several years now, not just since Obama became President.
